Small Sapele Traditional Tree
CAN027
Wood Sapele
Turned September 2026
Finish Hard wax oil
Dimensions 3⅜" tall × 1¾" wide (8.5cm × 4.5cm)
A small traditional-style tree in sapele, 8.5cm tall and 4.5cm across at the widest, turned from another Kent Woodturners offcut.

I tried something different with this one, using hard wax oil for the first time. It’s not quite as glossy as the friction polish on the other trees, but it gives a soft satin finish that’s still nice to hold, and the tree is very cute.
Sapele takes its name from the port of Sapele in Nigeria, in West Africa, where the timber was once shipped from.
Finished with hard wax oil.
