Small traditional-style trees in oak, each with a turned trunk and pot. They’re only 8.5 to 9cm tall and 4cm across at the widest, but very cute, and both have a very prominent grain pattern.

Two small oak traditional trees, the open grain showing as dark flecks across every bough

The oak came from an offcut of worktop, the kind made from many smaller blocks glued together.

That prominent grain comes from the way oak grows. It’s “ring-porous”: each spring the tree lays down a band of large, open vessels to carry water, followed by denser wood through the summer. Turned across, those open pores show up as the dark flecks and dashes running over every bough.

Finished with chestnut friction polish.
