A pair of slightly smaller traditional-style trees, each with a turned trunk and pot, 11.5cm tall and about 4cm across at the widest. The wood came from the Kent Woodturners wood store, and I believe it’s larch.

The distinctive grain pattern seemed to suit the tree shape nicely, with the dark growth rings sweeping round each bough.

Larch is an unusual conifer. Unlike pines, spruces and firs, it’s deciduous, turning gold in autumn and dropping all its needles for the winter. A real one would make a rather bare Christmas tree, so a turned one is probably the better choice.
Finished with chestnut friction polish.
